“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart (Hebrews 12:1-3).”
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned (John 15:5-6).”
“Oh, that I could always see myself in my proper colors…I’d have little reason to fall down and worship myself.” -George Whitfield
Lord, I know that it’s by your grace alone that I am what I am today (1 Corinthians 15:10). Thank you, God, for promising to finish what you started in me through Christ’s perfect work on the cross (Philippians 1:6)! Help me to see myself through your eyes. Forgive me for the times I disconnect from you and start to worship myself. I am nothing without you, Father. You are the one who gives me purpose and strength. In Jesus name, Amen!
