Where Do You Place Your Trust?

“Anything you cannot relinquish when it has outlived its usefulness, possesses you. And in this materialistic age, a great many of us are possessed by our possessions.” – Mildred Lisette Norman

Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—he remains faithful forever (Psalm 146:3-7).”

“This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD (Jeremiah 17:5).”

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).”

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal (Matthew 6:19-20).”

Lord, There are days when I feel helpless and out of control. Forgive me for the times I place my trust in the things of this world instead of you. Forgive me for seeking material things which only promise temporary, limited solutions. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me (Psalm 25:5). Help me to put my hope and trust only in you. In Jesus name, Amen!
